Opened Plenny Bar

Hi there, often I don’t fancy a whole bar and would like to save some for another day.
once opened, how long is a plenny bar good for? Is there anything I can do to expand the shelf life once opened?

I don’t notice any difference if I leave half a bar in the packaging for days at room temp and tuck the end of the package under the bar to hinder airflow. I suspect it would be fine for weeks.

Indeed, they last a fairly long time if just resealed. However, if you do that I think it’s important that you didn’t bite the bit you left, as saliva would definitely impact shelf life. So maybe break off a piece with your hand if you intend to keep the rest for later.

Excellent point, KoenSmits. I break the bar in four pieces before opening it.

That’s great to hear. Thank you both really helps.
And a great point about breaking the bar off too

Interesting discussion! We haven’t conducted tests specifically on how the sensory experience of the bars changes after being opened and stored. As a general note, the components most likely to degrade over time are the fats (including fat-soluble vitamins), which can oxidize when exposed to air. However, if you keep the bars well-sealed, oxidation should be minimal.

The texture might also change over time, so it’s always a good idea to check the bar before eating it. Take a look at it, smell it, and taste a small piece to ensure it’s still good to eat.

Let us know how it goes if you decide to experiment with storing them! We’d love to hear your observations.
