How To Make Plenny Shake More Filling?

Hello! I am attempting to go 100% Plenny Shake to meet all of my nutritional needs. I am a 5”7 128lb female. I make the standard 96g serving and have 5 a day. (Made with 12 oz water). When I drink it, I am satiated, but only for an hour. I soon feel hungry within 2 hours of having the shake. How do I make these shakes more filling? I have tried adding more water, and it just makes the shakes thin and taste weird. I’m also an active person and get 12,000 steps throughout the day. (Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I wanted to add details just in case.)

Thank you!

Hi Deerheart!

I recently just started drinking Plenny every day and I experienced hunger too. I’m not doing 5 shakes, but three a day. One of the biggest problems that I ran into was being hungry and I attribute that a lot to not eating the shakes at set times so my body expects a scheduled meal, or drinking my shakes too soon between each other and not having snacks afterwards throughout the day.

Im trying to do about 3 hours between shakes to offset that hungry feeling. But I’m also drinking at the very start of the morning some overnight oats. If you are set on doing five shakes a day I’d say consider that your first shake you could combine it with oats and let it sit overnight and then drink it in the morning for that extra hunger fighting boost.

I did have a friend telling me yesterday that I should add a scoop of fiber to my shakes if I’m feeling hungry still, it’s what they do to their coffee. All the best!

Thank you for this reply! Have you been having 3 shakes that are 400 calories? I’ve been trying to do 5 shakes that are 400 calories. But yeah, maybe my body is expecting meals on a schedule or something. A shake does NOT last me 3 hours. 1 shake lasts about 1.5 hours, and 2 at the most. It’s crazy how much I am thinking about food all day, looking forward to my next shake. Maybe I just need 6 shakes a day >,< I also fast for 16-18 hours a day if that changes the situation. Thank you again for the reply!

It was pretty tough for me too when I first started the shakes, still is for me but I’m feeling a little better every day. I recently quit soda and it’s been about 15 days now. Yeah the three shakes are 400 calories each, but that’s not all I’m eating. It’s overnight oats, three shakes, and then I cover the rest of my target calories however I need to until I figure something out.

But I was drinking Huel essentials before I started JimmyJoy and I really look forward to each one because they taste so good.

If you just started maybe you just need a little bit more time to ease your body into this new routine? Otherwise keep experimenting until you find something that works

Could it be you need more calories? If you do, you could add a bit of healthy oil maybe, like MCT (but start with a little MCT at first, to help your body get used to it) or another healthy oil. I know this as a hack with backpackingfood when ppl need more calories. I am fairly new to mealreplacement though… Id think you can also add avocado or banana, nutbutter, things like that. I think things with protein, fats and/ or fibre. Maybe test a few things out?

BTW how long are you planning to do 100% shakes and with what goal? Ive been reading a bunch about mealreplacement-shakes today and found it is generally recommended to only use next to wholefoods, so you keep variety, which is one of the most important things to do. For a short time, I tink it can be benefitial. (I once did 16 days 100% elemental diet, which is a medical diet shake and is used 100% for 14/ 21 days as a medical treatment. It is basically the same idea but made from broken-down nutrients that hardly needs digestion). Good luck!
